Located in Knox County Board of Education District 6 and KCS Region 2, Ball Camp Elementary, sits on the corner of Schaad Road and Middlebrook Pike. Our school is tucked in a quiet, strong community that supports our school well.

Ball Camp Elementary School is committed to fostering a workplace culture that values employee contributions, equips employees to meet their professional goals, and supports employees in the work of teaching and learning. Teachers, principals, support staff, and parents are the driving force behind our educational mission.

Our Beliefs

• For the excellence and success of our school, we believe that it is essential that parents, community leaders, teachers, staff, and administrators be included in major decision making.

• We believe that each student will learn and excel to his/her highest academic potential of proficiency and beyond through Student Performance Indicators and assessment driven instruction.

• We believe that regular grade level meetings are important after major assessments are given to discuss individual student's needs for enrichment or intervention.

• We believe that the curriculum should be implemented through innovative research-based instructional methods that are designed and balanced to meet each student's needs and interests.

• We believe that problem solving skills and technology skills are also essential for academically successful twenty-first century students.

• We believe that students will develop a positive academic self-concept and become life-long learners through regular school attendance and an effective home-school relationship.

• We believe that character development is an essential component for both relational and social success, as well as academic success.

Executive Principal

Mrs. Sarah Brengle

Sarah Brengle is a seasoned educator and school leader with over 28 years of experience in education with Knox County Schools. She began her career in education in 1997 as a teacher at Karns Intermediate, where she taught until 2000. In 2000, Ms. Brengle started teaching at Hardin Valley Elementary where she taught for 12 years. She began her career in administration, first as Assistant Principal at Ball Camp from 2012 to 2015, and then became Executive Principal of Ball Camp Elementary in 2015. She has served the Ball Camp community for 13 years, and she is so proud to be part of a caring school that focuses on academic excellence.

Ms. Brengle's career extended onto the basketball court,while she was a teacher, as she served in the role of Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach at Central High School from 1997-2000. In 2000, she transitioned to the Assistant Girl's Basketball coach at Karns High School for three years. In 2003, she was named the Girls' Varsity Basketball Coach where she served until 2011.

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Tammy Madon

Tammy Madon is an experienced educator with a strong background in teaching and administration. She began her career in teaching at West Haven Elementary where she taught from 1998 to 2005. In 2005, she transitioned into the role of Literacy Coach that served Sunnyview Primary and Chilhowee Intermediate. Mrs. Madon then transitioned into the role of Instructional Coach with Knox County, and in this role between 2009-2025 she has served the following elementary schools Corryton, Powell, Brickey McCloud, and Shannondale. In May 2025, she joined the Ball Camp Elementary family as she took on the role of Assistant Principal.

Tammy has a strong background in curriculum and instruction, having worked on the Tennessee Department of Education Assessment Committee as well as the statewide Reading Adoption Committee. In 2020-2021, Tammy had the opportunity to work on developing curriculum and resources for the Best For All.
